Spaghetti Sauce

Homemade Spaghetti Sauce
INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tsp dry basil
  • 1 tsp dry parsley
  • 1 tsp dry oregano
  • 2 Tbsp garlic powder (or 6-8 cloves fresh garlic, finely chopped)
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 3 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup dark balsamic vinegar
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 quart (24 oz.) canned tomatoes + their juice
  • 1 cup water
  • 12 oz. tomato paste
  • 1 pound cooked ground beef


DIRECTIONS:

  • Sauté basil, parsley, oregano, garlic, and onion in the olive oil until the onion is translucent (5-10 minutes).
  • Add the rest of the ingredients and bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat to very low and simmer the sauce for 1-3 hours to let the flavors combine properly.
Notes:
  • Serve over your favorite al dente pasta or use in a lasagna.
  • Freezes very well!
